Coronavirus in Mexico report for August 7

This Saturday, the Ministry of Health indicated that Mexico added 515 more deaths from COVID-19 today, with a total of 244,248 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

With today’s numbers, the country reaching a total of 2,964,244 cases, 20,018 more than in the previous 24 hours.

With these figures, Mexico ranks 15th worldwide in the number of infections and fourth as the country with the most deaths from the pandemic, behind the United States, Brazil, and India, according to the US Johns Hopkins University.

Vaccination against Covid-19 in Mexico

The latest update of the vaccination plan, presented by the Undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo López-Gatell, reported that on Thursday, August 5, 988,155 doses of vaccines against Covid-19 were applied.

He also explained that since the beginning of the national vaccination strategy, a total of 70,808,386 doses of the vaccine have been applied.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of Foreign Relations, Marcelo Ebrard, highlighted this Saturday that the country has already received 90 million doses of the vaccine.

COVID-19 in Mexico City

Mexico City has reported a total of 814,132 cases and 36,093 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic, meaning 4,516 new cases and 65 new deaths in the past 24-hours.
