Coronavirus in Mexico as of February 9

The Ministry of Health (SSa) reported that until this Wednesday, February 9, 5,192,008 cases of accumulated infections of coronavirus (COVID-19) have been registered. In addition, since the beginning of the epidemic, Mexico has suffered 310,627 deaths from the disease.

The foregoing represents that in the last 24 hours, 24,898 infections were added, as well as 743 deaths.

According to the daily technical statement, as of today, there are an estimated 117,290 active cases of the disease in the country; that is, the patients who began to present symptoms in the last 14 days (from January 27 to February 9, 2022).

The entities with the highest number of active cases of SARS-CoV-2 in descending order are Colima, Baja California Sur, Mexico City, Nayarit, and Tlaxcala.

Regarding hospital availability, the average occupancy of general beds in health centers is 37% and 26% for intensive care beds.

The states with the highest percentage of general bed occupancy are Puebla (55.91%), Nuevo León (51.89%), and Hidalgo (50.20 percent). In turn, those with the highest percentage in beds with a ventilator are, again, Aguascalientes (53.16%), Jalisco (36.36%), and Mexico City (36.11 percent).

The most affected age group in the last five weeks are people between 18 and 39 years old, although they are followed by those aged 60 and older.
