The Government Secretariat of Mexico City reported that from December 8 to 13, 12,500,000 pilgrims visited the Basilica of Guadalupe, breaking the attendance record.
In a press release, the agency reported that the religious day passed without any major incidents. In addition to the fact that the parishioners had exemplary behavior during their stay in the capital of the country.
In addition, they announced that the integrity of the pilgrims was protected by Operative Basilica 2022, which was implemented from December 8 to 13 by the Government of Mexico City.
During the operation, 20,000 public servants participated, from different dependencies of the capital’s government, the capital’s Prosecutor’s Office, and the Gustavo A. Madero mayor’s office.
In addition, medical attention was offered to the parishioners. There were eight transfers to hospitals, they located 90 missing people, and 368,650 liters of water were delivered to the pilgrims.
Likewise, 808 tons of garbage were collected and manual sweeping was contemplated, by the Urban Services staff of the Ministry of Works and Services (SOBSE), which covered around 653 kilometers.
